Rayregalia Vers Rayvers (レイレガリア・ヴァース・レイヴァース Reiregaria Vāsu Reivāsu?) is a supporting character that appears in the ALDNOAH.ZERO television series. The First Emperor of the Vers Empire, father of Gilzeria, and grand-father of Asseylum Vers Allusia and Lemrina Vers Envers.
Personality & Character
Rayregalia is an intelligent man who tries to understand the situation at hand. Although he is more open to the words of others and their manipulative words and actions. This is seen where he takes the word of Count Saazbaum over that of Slaine Troyard. In doing so, he convinces Rayregalia to renew his declaration of war against the Earth for harming his own flesh and blood. (AZ: "Phantom of the Emperor")
Skills and Abilities
The first Terran to make contact and awaken Aldnoah was Dr. Rayregalia Vers Rayvers. It recognized him as the rightful heir and burned the Aldnoah activation factor into his genes. The activation factor is inherited by his descendants. The Knights who swear fealty to him are bestowed with the Aldnoah and the activation factor.
History
After the discovery of the Hyper Gate by Apollo 17 on the Moon, the colonization of Mars began with the discovery of Aldnoah. Rayregalia declares Mars's independence from the Earth. This led to the creation of the Vers Empire, which claimed that the Emperor inherited the authority of Aldnoah. In due part from this the people of Vers are oppressed under a feudal system centered around Aldnoah.
The people of VERS resent the Terrans who seem to have everything. Earth possesses unique food, culture, abundant amounts of water and air, along with living creatures native to the planet. The VERS may have advanced technology thanks to Aldnoah, but what they lack is culture that can't be made up by it. The superficial reason behind the First Earth-Mars War was for obtaining culture and plentiful resources. The disgruntled feelings of the people of VERS against him and the Royal Family started during the reign of Rayregalia. However he stepped down due to illness allowing for his son Gilzeria to become the Second Emperor. Gilzeria used the people's jealousy of Earth to maintain order on VERS. Gilzeria whipped the Orbital Knights into a frenzy and sent them against Earth. This alone caused the conflict spurring Heavens Fall. Thus giving rise to Operation Earthfall 15 years later. When Gilzeria dies during Heavens Fall on the Moon, Rayregalia steps in as the First Emperor of the Vers Empire in place of his deceased son.
During the events of Operation Earthfall, Rayregalia declares an armistice with the United Earth government. However, he later renews the war. (AZ: "Phantom of the Emperor")
Relationships
She is his grand-daughter. After the death of her father/his son, Gilzeria, during the First Earth-Mars War, Rayregalia became her guardian. Although she spent most of her time with Slaine Troyard.
